What Our Clients Say About Clarum Homes

Passive Home Owner

Our passive house is absolutely amazing. It consumes hardly any energy and is very comfortable. It is a marvel in design and environmental responsibility. This home should be a model for how all houses are built. We have only the Planet to save, after all.

Orinda – Major Green Renovation

While we have received numerous compliments regarding how stunning our remodeled Orinda home is, we’re every bit as pleased with its not so obvious energy saving features. John Suppes’ personal involvement is evident in the multiple cutting-edge installations which all work in concert. Our PG&E statements continually validate the incredible energy efficiency of our home. The architect who works with Clarum, Stuart Welte, the Project Manager and Director of Construction, Sean Misskelley, and the Superintendent, Craig, were responsive to every one of our concerns or questions, no matter how trivial, and appeared to be personally invested in the project as if they were building their own home. Each Clarum employee we encountered, either at the jobsite or on the phone, was extremely friendly and professional. We were also happy to discover that, true to their word, Clarum takes 100% responsibility for its work and that of its numerous subcontractors through its Customer Service with whom it is very easy to communicate.

Palo Alto — Green Renovation

Anyone who has undertaken any level of home renovation can surely understand the leap of faith that’s taken when you sign on with a contractor. With Clarum Homes, we got more than just a contractor – we got a highly-professional, top of the line home builder; one that continually paid the utmost attention to our needs – and we truly felt well taken care of throughout the entire process.

As we moved through the various stages of our project, we continued to be impressed by how well progress flowed and was tasks were managed, even amidst the hurdles that are inherent to process.

The folks at Clarum are genuinely concerned and invested in our long term satisfaction as owners of a Clarum home, and they continue to stand by the quality of their craftsmanship.

Menlo Park — Green Renovation

It has been a great experience working recently with Clarum Homes in carrying out our vision in remodeling our house. The work has been completed not only within the expected time frame – which for us was very critical considering the incipient of a newborn in the family – but also with the expected high quality standard in all the details. In particular we have appreciated working with Clarum’s Project Manager who was always available to respond promptly, and who was very responsive toward our goals and very knowledgeable with important suggestions and recommendations.

So thank you very much to Clarum Homes – we hope for a positive collaboration again in the next steps of our project in the near future.

Danville — Custom High Performance Home

The comfort of our home is undeniably the best we’ve ever experienced. Our new home is extraordinarily quiet, and exceptionally comfortable. After paying a utility bill of more than $450 per month in the winter and $250 in summer, we have had only a $4.75 connection fee for electricity and about 1/2 the natural gas charge of our previous home.

With the federal tax credit, which offsets a third of the cost, the 15% state rebate, the 50% bonus depreciation and the energy savings– combined with the positive environmental impact – it’s a totally win-win situation. Additionally, the solar on our home adds value – but does not add to our property tax bill!

Custom High Performance Home

We live in a luxury, energy efficient, green home built by Clarum Homes. Clarum installed grid-tied photovoltaic electricity and solar water heating for domestic hot water and forced air space heating, which is supplemented by gas when there is insufficient solar heat. The PV covers all our electricity needs in a house almost 5,000 sq. ft., plus it charges our electric car. The walls are 10″ thick SIPS which provide very effective insulation from the outside heat or cold. In summer we have rarely turned on the air conditioner as the house maintains a very steady, comfortable temperature even when outdoor temperature is over 100 degrees. Our home is comfortable year round, extremely eco-friendly and visually superb. Clarum Homes did an excellent job constructing our home.
